The school Nkoni Educational Centre (village of Nkoni, South Uganda), allows 500 children to attend elementary school every year thanks to the distance adoptions and donations.

The children are nearly all orphans of parents killed by AIDS. The area coincides with the geographical area where Aids began its widespread in the 70s
The projects of long distance adoptions and donations also finances adolecents who want to learn a trade (tailoring for the girls and carpentry for the boys).
What makes the Nkoni Eduational Centre different from projects with the same goals is that on a regular basis the most active pupils, willing to become teachers, are given the possibility to study until they get their diploma thanks to the grants provided by the sponsors: after the diploma they are asked to volunteer to teach in the school that offered them their primary education, giving birth to a virtuous circle and making the project self sustainable.
The Nkoni project survives - and has done so for 9 years - thanks to the unsurpassable determination of the local community, and the partnership with [Turin] - Italy, and Eva Biginelli.
